Henry Street Settlement
•Maintain a classroom conducive to learning and facilitate successful participant engagement, quality interaction and learning
•Establish clear expectations and encouraging student accountability
•Implement quality instructional practices, and vary methods of instruction, to encourage participation and retention
•Conduct regular assessment/post-tests to determine advancement
•Maintain timely and complete documentation, including individual case notes as prescribed by Program Coordinator and Director
•Participate in required program and agency meetings including supervision
•Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
•Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education (MEd) preferred
•One (1) year teaching experience required
•Ability to engage a diverse population including disconnected youth, immigrants and adult learners
•Knowledge of ABE and Pre-HSE curriculum and HSE testing requirements
•Ability to teach all subject areas (reading, math, science, social studies and writing), math expertise preferred
•Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and web-hosted databases
•Commitment to incorporating innovative teaching methods
•Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
•Ability to assess differences in learning styles and capitalize on student strengths
•Understanding of workforce development landscape and how to incorporate into curriculum a plus
