HOURS: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm M-F

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Guidance Center of Westchester PROS seeks to add a certified or licensed music therapist to our team of clinicians to provide clinical services and build an innovative music component within our PROS. As a team member, the music therapist will work collaboratively in a dynamic, person-centered, evidence-based program located in Mount Vernon New York, walking distance to Metro North.

PROS offers adults with mental illness a broad range of integrated services designed to help them achieve goals for work, education, relationships, socialization, living, and health and wellness. The music therapist will perform general PROS clinical functions, and will specialize in the delivery of music-based interventions designed to facilitate recovery through development of skills for symptom self-management, social interactions, relationships, coping , emotional expression. The music therapist will carry a caseload of participants, conduct assessments, develop service plans, provide individual and group services in various general PROS service areas, and be responsible for timely and complete documentation of session notes and participant progress . He or she will develop curricula for, and lead, music classes and encourage participants to engage in music-related activities. Other functions will include clinical and administrative team meetings, conferences and in-service trainings.

Qualifications

LCAT or other state license or certification as a music therapist, and one year professional practice experience. Knowledge of electronic health reporting strongly preferred; excellent computer, writing and oral presentation skills essential.
