Employment Support Specialist - Bronx ACE Program

Goodwill Industries is currently seeking 2 Employment Support Specialists to join the Bronx ACE team. In this role the successful candidates will be responsible for assisting participants in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment consistent with their vocational interests and abilities. In accordance with the Individual Placement and Supports (IPS) supported employment model the Employment Support Specialist (ESS) will provide job development services and ongoing rehabilitation supports to clients in the community. ESS will conduct client intakes; administer the career profile; collaborate with clients to develop individual recovery plan to establish an employment plan. ESS are responsible for partnering with employers in the community as well as mental health service providers.





Essential Functions:



· Responsible for a caseload of a minimum of 20 participants. Engage clients in a trusting, collaborative relationship directed toward the goal of obtaining competitive employment.

· Assesses clients' vocational functioning on an ongoing basis utilizing their skill sets, background information and work experiences.

· Help participants link their strengths and preferences to specific types of jobs and work settings.

· Provide individualize follow along supports (case management) as it pertains to job success or obtaining better employment opportunities.

· Encourages participants to carry out job search and job performance as independently as possible. Provide resume writing & interview preparation immediately upon enrollment.

· Document all participant contacts and services (Individual Recovery Planning, progress notes, employment info etc.) in electronic health record and NYESS in a timely manner.

· Provide personalized benefits planning and assist with income reporting; accompany clients to local benefits office as needed.

· Secure participants paystubs and other employment verification on a monthly.

· Conducts job development and job search activities directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of persons served, following the principles and procedures of IPS supported employment.

· Have a minimum of 6 face-to-face employer contacts per week to learn about businesses, describe program services and develop jobs for participants.

· Use monthly tracking form to document employer contacts.

· Responsible for a minimum of 8 job starts per fiscal year or having at least a 20% employment rate within your caseload.

· Responsible for completing a minimum of three completed (Intake/Career Profile) admissions per month.

· Maintain monthly contact with community mental health treatment providers and/or Access-VR counselors in order to coordinate services for shared participants and accrue new referrals.

· Perform other related duties as assigned by Program Manager or Administrative Staff.


Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:.

· Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Will review experience in lieu of degree. Job Development experience is a plus.

· Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills.

· Strong professional boundaries are a must.

· Visibility of work requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment, multi-task, and attention to detail.

· Strong presentation and networking skills

· Must be a team player and have strong work ethic.

· Must be flexible, creative and energetic.

· Knowledge of MS Office Suite (word, Excel, Outlook).



Scope of Responsibility & Positions Supervised:

· Maintain confidentiality and security of participant information and records.

· Exercise discretion with participant program records as per HIPAA regulations.


Special Working Conditions:.


Frequent field work to various neighborhoods across NYC, must be comfortable traveling by public transportation and climbing stairs.
