Community Access, Inc. (CA), founded in 1974, is a progressive not-for-profit organization that expands opportunities for people living with mental health concerns to recover from trauma and discrimination through affordable housing, training, advocacy and healing-focused services. We are built upon the simple truth that people are experts in their own lives. Our programs are spread across 20 locations and include over 1000 units of supportive housing in three boroughs, the Howie The Harp Advocacy Center, ThriveAtWork, Blueprint Supported Education, East Village Access—a PROS program, and a peer-driven Crisis Respite Center.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of
COORDINATOR OF TRAINING
to work in our Howie the Harp Advocacy Center.

This is a full time position, 40 hours per week; salary is mid 50’s to 60k, with an excellent benefits package.

Position Overview:
The Coordinator of Training is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum for the Peer Specialist Training Program and other training initiatives the Center may develop. The essential job functions include, but are not limited to: Develop, modify, prepare, and organize training curriculum and related resources; Deliver trainings in classroom setting using a variety of instructional modalities; Coordinate and schedule expert consultant trainers relevant to classroom needs; Provide supervision to assigned staff; Monitor classroom training(s) delivered by external consultant trainers; Resolve trainees’ questions and conflicts, providing feedback to Director and staff; Ensure that strategies for conflict resolution are implemented in a timely manner; Regularly evaluate ongoing trends in statewide, national, and international Peer Specialist training literature; Lead recruitment efforts for the HTH Peer Training Program; Oversee intake process for the Peer Training Program; Collaborate on agency initiatives that involve/ promote training, education, and staff development; Maintain documentation of attendance of all trainings, evaluation reports, classroom incidents, and individual progress as needed; Provide training to staff as necessary; In collaboration with the Director, make final decisions regarding admission and discharge of trainees; Act as a resource to staff on knowledge and skills in recovery, wellness, rehabilitation, and employment.


Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have an understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the philosophy and mission of Community Access; Recipient/survivor of mental health services, required; Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) – Bachelor’s degree, preferred; Previous experience working in education field, such as adult education, training, or teaching, required; Demonstrated experience developing curriculum for classroom delivery; Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver training and technical assistance using a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to an adult learning environment, required; At least two (2) years in management position, preferred; Excellent oral and written communication, public speaking, teaching, and training skills; Ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize work; Ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize work; Advanced analytical and innovative problem solving abilities, with ability to be creative and flexible; Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work as part of a team; Ability to utilize various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel; Ability to maintain confidential information, as related to position; Must be fingerprinted and cleared by the NYS Justice Center.
