The Bridge, an innovative and well respected mental health agency serving adults with serious mental illness, substance abuse, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and co-morbid medical conditions is seeking a Billing Specialist to join its elite team.
Position Essential Responsibilities:
Ensure all claims are submitted with a goal of zero errors; verifies completeness and accuracy of all claims prior to submission; accurately Post all insurance payments by line item; timely follow up on insurance claim denials, exceptions or exclusions; ability to meet deadlines; reading and interpreting insurance explanation of benefits; respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients and providers; regularly meet with supervisor to discuss and resolve reimbursement issues or billing obstacles; regularly attend monthly staff meetings and continuing educational sessions as requested; full review and follow up of exceptions, errors or rejections from clearinghouse batches
EOB and ERA review and processing; reconcile EOBs, EPAs and ERAs to claims submitted; review and follow up of insurance denials: resubmission with or without corrections where necessary; working directly with insurance company and healthcare provider to get claims processed and paid; reviewing and appealing unpaid and denied claims; verifying patient’s insurance coverage and exceptions; update Accumedic with client demographic data; follow HIPAA guidelines in handling patient information; other duties and responsibilities as required.
Knowledge of OMH clinic regulations and procedures
Not-for-Profit and Behavioral Health; general competence with computer systems; knowledge of Practice Management Systems, NYS ePaces/ eMedNY systems; Interpersonal skills required for effective communication/troubleshooting with program personnel and insurance plan contacts; knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare and federal and state 3rd party billing regulations
