Program Director (JACS)

The Jewish Board

Description

The Jewish Alcoholics, Chemically Dependent Persons and Significant Others (JACS) Program Director is responsible for: developing an annual work plan; implementing this work plan; managing the relationships among JACS staff, members, and volunteers; developing relationships between JACS and other alcohol and substance abuse treatment providers; and developing and managing relationships between JACS and Jewish communal organizations that make use of JACS’ services, such as day schools and synagogues.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Counseling people in crisis, and providing information and referral
Collaborating with Jewish Communal Service Providers & Substance Abuse Treatment Programs
Collaborating with lay leaders and volunteers
Providing substance abuse prevention education
Planning and leading recovery support activities, such as sober Jewish holiday events, retreats.
Working with Jewish Board support units, such as marketing, and development.
Maintaining contact with JACS members, especially through social media

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Social Work or other Human services-related field.
Training in Substance Abuse.
Training in Mental Health Services preferred.
Substance Abuse Prevention and/or Treatment Groupwork
Jewish Communal Work (e.g., at JFS, JCC, day School, camp, youth group)
Volunteer recruitment, training, supervision preferred
Word, Excel, Outlook Email, social media
Some database experience preferred.
