Medical Director/Outpatient Psychiatrist
The Bridge, an innovative and well respected behavioral health agency serving adults with serious mental illness, substance abuse, and co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, is seeking a Psychiatrist who will serve as the agency’s Medical Director and as a Prescribing Psychiatrist at its Upper Westside Outpatient services location.
The Bridge is committed to providing its clients with the highest quality care, utilizing evidence-based and best clinical practices that include integrated behavioral and physical health care, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse treatment, Medication Assisted Treatment and trauma informed care. The Medical Director plays a key leadership role in establishing these standards by participating in the development of policy and clinical practice guidelines for all The Bridge’s programs which include Outpatient Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Teams, and Residential Services. Among the activities involved in fulfilling this role are participation in the Incident Review process, staff training and education, and membership on various committees and workgroups within and outside the organization.
Additionally, the Medical Director clinically and administratively supervises the Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurse who provide direct services to the clients of the agency’s Mental Health Clinic, PROS Program, and Substance Abuse Clinic/ Rehabilitation Programs. As a senior staff member of these programs the Medical Director helps develop practices and workflows for interacting with the larger behavioral and physical health services delivery systems, including State and City Oversight agencies, hospitals, other community providers and Managed Care Organizations.
The Psychiatrist who fills this position will also have direct clinical responsibilities for clients in the Mental Health Clinic, PROS and Substance Abuse Treatment programs. These may include: psychiatric evaluation and diagnoses, psychopharmacology, health assessment and monitoring, crisis intervention, and coordination of care. The Psychiatrist participates in case conferences and reviews treatment as per regulation for quality and medical necessity.
This position requires the ability to use the agency’s Electronic Medical Record, prescribe electronically and interact with other relevant data bases that securely exchange Protected Health Information.
This is a salaried position, 28 hours/week. Malpractice insurance is covered by the agency. Salary is competitive.
Board Certification in Psychiatry and appropriate experience. Subspecialty/experience in Addiction Psychiatry desirable; must be obtained post-employment. Certification to prescribe Buprenorphine required (can be obtained post-employment).
