The Bridge is currently seeking Residential Counselors, for their Manhattan residences located throughout New York City.

Function:

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Residence Counselor is responsible for providing rehabilitative services to individual residents living in a transitional setting.

Tasks:
Performs restorative services and ADL’s to assist clients with cooking, cleaning, general apartment maintenance, shopping, traveling, taking medication, symptom management, personal hygiene, money management, self-advocacy, utilizing community resources and other areas as appropriate.
Provides timely documentation services, including restorative services and/or weekly progress notes and weekly site visit reports as applicable.
Escorts clients to outside appointments to obtain benefits, medical doctor, psychiatrist or dentist when necessary, shopping, etc.
Manages crisis within the residential setting utilizing recognized crisis intervention strategies and appropriate incident reporting.
Supervises medication administration of all residents and maintains appropriate documentation in accordance with medication policy.
Documentation of services provided.
Supervise medication administration and maintain appropriate documentation.
Responsible for attending regularly scheduled staff meetings and other trainings/meetings as required.
Attend internal agency meetings and trainings.
Duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills Qualifications:
Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent with Minimum one (1) year in a human services/direct care setting.
Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
Experience providing evidence-based practices to persons with mental illness/addictive disorders, strongly preferred
Interest with working and learning about mental illness/addictive, disorders strongly preferred
Strong problem solving and organizational skills
Ability to escort clients to healthcare and other appointments in the community via public transportation, and to meet the physical demands of making apartment visits in a multi-level walk-up residential building.
