Community Health Director
Community Access, Inc. (CA), founded in 1974, is a progressive not-for-profit organization that expands opportunities for people living with mental health concerns to recover from trauma and discrimination through affordable housing, training, advocacy and healing-focused services. We are built upon the simple truth that people are experts in their own lives. Our programs are spread across 20 locations and include over 1000 units of supportive housing in three boroughs, the Howie The Harp Advocacy Center, ThriveAtWork, Blueprint Supported Education, East Village Access—a PROS program, and a peer-driven Crisis Respite Center.
Qualified candidates must have an understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the philosophy and mission of Community Access; commitment to working with individuals who experience barriers to accessing high quality health care; advanced degree in public health or community/public health nursing or related discipline preferred; at least 3 years experience in public/community health, mental health, homeless services, harm reduction, infectious and chronic diseases; supervisory experience preferred; knowledge of health promotion and public health program planning and evaluation; experience providing change leadership, project start-up and management, resource development and coordination; capacity to develop programing which addresses the social determinants of health and is culturally relevant; data collection and analysis skills; have an understanding of peer support and its value in health promotion; experience in training or educating and developing learning tools; creative negotiation, problem-solving and team-building skills; must be fingerprinted and cleared by the New York State Justice Center.
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week; salary is 95-100K, plus an excellent benefits package.
