We are currently seeking Residence Counselors for our residential programs in Manhattan and Bronx locations for all shifts (day, evening and overnight).

ORGANIZATION: The Bridge, a leading non-profit provider of supportive housing and mental health services in New York City has completed an affiliation agreement with Weston United, a leading Harlem-based agency. The new affiliation will bring together two storied agencies whose compatible client populations, service mix, and geography offering the opportunity to grow while staying aligned with the agencies’ respective service missions. Weston United became an affiliate of The Bridge, and their combined program services will reach more than 2,700 individuals annually.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible to assist consumers to develop Activities of Daily Living Skills (ADLs) such as general apartment maintenance, shopping, traveling, taking medication, symptom management, personal hygiene, money management, self-advocacy, utilizing community resources and other areas as appropriate. Provide timely documentation of restorative services and/or weekly progress notes and weekly site visit reports as applicable. Escort clients to outside appointments to obtain benefits, medical, mental, dental healthcare appointments when necessary and assist consumers with shopping. Manage crisis within the residential setting utilizing recognized crisis intervention strategies, participate in fire drills and appropriate incident reporting. Supervise medication administration of all residents and maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with medication policy. Documentation of services provided. Participate in supervision, staff meetings, agency meetings, in-service and all training as required. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalency. Minimum 1 year experience in a social service setting, community center and/or security position. Knowledge of mental health issues. Basic computer skills and competency in written and verbal communications. Ability to work in a team, recognize the need for confidentiality of information and to maintain a secure safe residential environment. Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
