Grant Accountant

The Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS) is an acclaimed human services organization and one of the nation’s largest providers of supportive housing social services. CUCS is a leader in implementing new practices, sharing knowledge and assisting in shaping local, state and national strategies, so that persons who are homeless, low-income, living with mental illness, or have other special needs can live successfully in the community. The Grant Accountant position is located at the main office of CUCS in the fiscal department.

The Grant Accountant is responsible for post-award grant administration including invoicing, financial reporting and reconciliations. The Grant Accountant will also review general ledger transactions, assist in preparation of audit schedules and reconciliation of bank accounts and discretionary funds. The Grant Accountant prepares accounting and financial reports and ensures accurate accounting systems and record keeping. This individual is expected to utilize his/her education, training and experience to provide a high level of performance in the full range of responsibilities in order to support and actively work toward the agency’s mission and specific goals and objectives.


Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly expense reports to government agencies

Monitor and ensure sites compliance with fiscal policies and procedures

Prepare journal entries to the General Ledger

Assist with monthly and year end closing procedures

Assist with the preparation of audit schedules for agency and program audits


Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field

Minimum of three years of direct experience in accounting, budgeting or finance in a not-for-profit.

Demonstrated analytic and problem solving skills and experience

Good communication and writing skills
