The Bridge is currently seeking an an Employment Specialist for its ACT Program in the Bronx.
• Complete the vocational assessments, components of the ACT comprehensive assessment • Identify services consumers should receive in ACT based on assessment of education, vocational and work history, and immediate needs and recommend treatment objectives for the consumer’s service plan • During the assessment, obtains information: a) to establish the nature and extent of consumer interest in education, vocational training and competitive employment and interventions required to promote progress towards vocational goals, and b) lead the ACT team in daily meetings and weekly clinical meetings around vocational issues and incorporate findings into service plans • Build in review and evaluation points, and modifies the service plan in the light of feedback from recipients and relevant others • Develop comprehensive service plans and 6-month service plan reviews in collaboration with the consumer and the consumer’s support system that are responsive to identified problems including risk for criminal recidivism identified by risk and need assessment, as well as the consumer’s strengths and recovery process • Involve family and significant others in the consumer’s treatment with the ACT team and provide psycho-education to significant others • Complete 6-month comprehensive assessment and crisis intervention and relapse prevention plans, progress notes and significant data • Provide individual employment and vocational counseling to consumer interested in pursuing vocational goals • Ensure at least 10 percent of ACT consumers are engaged in vocational and educational services in the community • Utilize motivational interviewing to support consumers to develop vocational goals • Complete at least 68 face to face treatment contacts in the community each month.
• Assess and provide supports to consumers to address needs for problem-solving, wellness self-management, housing, education and vocational training, social supports, and employment. • Act as advocate and liaison for consumers activities to seek and gain access to adult education, vocational training and competitive employment • Provide 24-hour crisis intervention on-call services on rotating basis • Provide 80 percent of treatment contacts in the community • Provide culturally competent services in accordance with CASES policies and practice • Participate effectively in team processes; and in regularly scheduled supervision with Team Leaders. • Perform other duties as required by Team Leader.
MSW, LMHC, CRC or related field; • At least one year of training and/or experience in vocational assessment, job exploration, and skills development in choosing getting, and maintaining employment, employment counseling, and vocational rehabilitation • At least one year of experience working in human services with individuals with serious mental illness, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders and involvement in the criminal justice system; • Highly organized and self-motivated; • Proficient in computers; • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
