Data Analyst

The Behavioral Health in Schools project is a city-wide, multi-stakeholder initiative which aims to prevent and reduce risky substance use, mental health conditions, and inappropriate use of emergency departments by expanding the skills of middle and high school-based staff in NYC. The Data Analyst is responsible for analysis, report development and presentation of data for use in all operational functions of the project. The Data Analyst will track and maintain data and data reporting systems based on agency and subcontractor activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:
•Provides quantitative and qualitative analysis of data, including agency and subcontractor activities, assesses data needs and resources in schools and Behavioral Health Agencies (BHAs), assists in the creation of data collection and evaluation tools for BHA and school use, and reports on data analysis and program evaluation.
•Coordinates data gathering, organization, entry and analysis for external stakeholders
•Presents findings to department colleagues and agency leadership to inform decision-making; trains staff to understand and apply report findings
•Generates reports for programs and administrative areas, including working with users on the purpose of reports, developing methods to integrate data from various systems, writing queries and establishing templates
•Identifies areas for improved processes, designs and implements systems to enhance data integrity, efficient workflow and access to integrated metrics
•Works collaboratively, within The Jewish Board, and with project partners
•Other duties, as assigned


•A Bachelor’s degree with coursework related to data management, data analysis, statistics, and/or survey design. Masters of Science degree in public health, public administration or related field preferred. Prior experience with data cleaning, analysis and interpretation required.
•Familiarity with the behavioral health and/or education service systems preferred.
•Organized with an ability to work independently to complete projects.
•Collaborative team player.
•Listening, analytical and problem solving skills.
•Excellent quantitative data analysis and presentation skills. Proficiency with relevant software (Excel, SPSS, SAS, R, Access). Experience with SQL a plus.
