REPORTS TO: The Program Director

Responsibilitiess may include, but are not limited to:

Provide direct services as needed to Special needs children.

Obtain present levels/baselines of child’s functioning levels in: socialization, cognitive levels, and fine and gross motor and self help skills.
Maintain I.E.P’s progress on each child.
Provide I.E.P progress updates throughout the school year.
Provide written progress reports on the child’s development throughout the school year.
Develop and monitor appropriate transition plans for children who will transfer from CPSE to CSE.
Provide Case Conferences updates on children in your classroom.
Maintain communication with related service providers.
Administer diagnostic assessments as needed via the Portage Guide testing tool.
Prepare and conduct Parent/Teacher conferencing throughout the school year.
Provide New Annual Review I.E.P goals for children in your classroom.
Obtain and maintain compliant special education student files for children in your class.
Participate in weekly Case Conferences.
Complete Case Conference performance form.
Prepare and adapt instructional material as per the needs of the children in your class.
Develop suitable curricula and effective teaching methods based on assessments of child’s needs.
Supervise teacher aide (s) with assigned activities.
Organize the classroom learning center in the class.
Provide a level of behavior management in the classroom i.e. Behavior charts for the children in your classroom.

Qualifications

Must be enthusiastic, energetic, nurturing, patient, comforting, creative, responsive, compassionate, flexible, encouraging and culturally sensitive and aware of the therapeutic needs of the children in our program.

Must also possess leadership skills in addition to being a good team player and having the ability to work well with other teachers when guidance is needed.
